Cat Tales Haul-out and Winter Storage

2003-2004

Fog had been forming on the Saint John River for weeks due to the cool overnight temperatures.  It made for an interesting trip to Jesse's Landing.

This is the second year for Haul-out.  Lee Colter, Arlee and Laurie had all the kinks worked out to make a smooth exit from the water!

A wedge tied in under the front of the boat makes the boat level to approach the trailer.

With a couple of straps to hold the boat from slipping back, Cat Tales balances nicely on the trailer.

Arlee drives while Lee directs.  They are a team to watch!

Here we are heading across the old Trans Canada Highway.

A right turn avoids the power lines and lines us up with the opening where the lines had been removed.

A tight fit through the gate, heading for the boatyard.

Here we are at Jessie's Landing, a business run by the Colter's.  Although the marina is no longer in operation, storage for boats and recreational vehicles is still operational.

The structure this year (2003) has been built at a much steeper pitch than last year.  We learned many lessons from last year's mistakes.  Hopefully we'll have less trouble than last year with the ice storms.

This is a photo of last year's wintering job.  The structure needed to be cleaned off after every storm because of the lack of pitch on the roof.

One major storm last winter broke 40 percent of the boards.  We band aided the situation in order to sneak through the rest of the winter.
