St. Vincent & The Grenadines

 March 22 to May 19, 2005

Jeanne and Doug on the right spent 2 weeks with us.  Ron and Judy on the left spent 1 week.  It was a lot of fun when the two couples vacations overlapped by two days.  We toured St. Vincent with Sam's Taxi Tours.  Sam does laundry, rents moorings, organized guided tours... 'anything for a buck'!

These little huts are for rent at an exclusive resort on the island of Canoun.

Ron and Judy in Bequia.  Oh sweet  Bequia!

Jeanne and Doug  at the stern of our boat.

Sam, from Sam's Taxi, stopped in the mountains to allow us to purchase a cool drink.  The rural prices are much lower than the prices charged within close vicinity of our boat.

This is 'Saltscar' at sunset.  John and Sue are from Canada, living permanently on their boat.

Judy, the water baby!

Ron couldn't get enough of the sights on the reefs!
Jeanne is examining the breadfruit and mangoes we picked in Bequia.

The art of cutting up a mango.  This is our absolute favourite fruit.

Judy has lost Ron in the falls!

Homemade bread.  No problem getting it to rise in the temperatures of the tropics!

Salt Whistle Bay in Mayreau.  We kept coming back to this spot and even celebrated Laurie's 50th at a beach bar.

Salt Whistle Bay.   I can still picture Ron standing up to his armpits in water on the sandy bottom,  for over an hour, just appreciating the surroundings!

This is Robert from the restaurant called "Righteous and de Youths".  He had the place decorated in Bob Marley paraphernalia and grinned continuously!  He helps children on the island of Mayreau by supplying them with pencil and paper for school.

Can you spot the tourist?

Laurie, steering with his body weight.  Our little dinghy was definitely one of the smallest and wettest.

After the haircut back in the British Virgin Islands, I cut my hair myself and actually liked the results!

We caught a tuna by trolling between Canoun and Bequia.

Mackerel caught between Bequia the Tobago Cays.  Catching this fish saved the day for Ron.  We got very busy with this guy taking his mind off the business of being sea sick.

In our opinion, the mackerel was better than the tuna!

We met Mike Campbell from Vancouver Chatham Bay, Union Island.  He loved to fish and shared these barracuda with us!

We made the mistake of leaving this drinking water outside in the sun for a half an hour, only to find that the sun shone through them and burn the cushions.  We're glad we were on board at the time!

Tobago Cays, where the snorkeling is superb!

How would you like to thaw out that chicken you bought only to find the feet and the beak?
