St. Maartin/St. Martin

January 2005

Check out the 4 cruise ships on the giant dock in Phillipsburg.  Cruise ships, along with very large private yachts, were very plentiful!

This is Philipsburg.  What a great place for shopping!  We replaced our CD player here and got really good deals on t-shirts and hats.  Any 3 items for 10 dollars US.  Heineken for a buck!

We actually watched people blow off the beach and into the water here at this Airport Beach Bar when the big planes took off!  Very sandy cartwheels.

Nice idea for seating!  Check out the plants in the front of the truck.  We spent New Year's Eve here, catching the local bus to and from our anchorage at Simpson Bay.

We walked up to the fort and caught a great view of the capital city, Marigot on the french side of St. Martin.

Just a sample of the hundreds of really huge private yachts in St. Martin.

Darrel and Loretta from Ottawa.  They live permanently on their boat, CanKata.  We hope to meet up with them again!

CanKata at the island of Tintemarre where we joined Darell and Loretta for a mud bath on the beach!

We had to stay clear of this race!  These were boats once used in the America's Cup and were available for tourists to live a personal dream!

We were waved at grandly when the people racing "True North" saw our Canadian flag!
